Our Armchair Botany events are forums for presentation and discussion about botany, herbarium specimens, and collections – and an invitation to get involved!

Join us Thursday May 11th at noon via zoom, for this month’s forum called Springtime in Nowhere: A vibrant glimpse at a vanishing land few realize they’ve never seen.. The Blackland Prairie – an ecosystem in which only 0.04% remains today. Critically imperiled and heart-breakingly beautiful, we’ll view botanical specimens and images from Clymer Meadow – one of the last places on earth you can see this prairie as it’s been for thousands of years.

We’ll start off this forum by opening the floor for any comments and/or questions folks have about our current Crowdsourcing project. Then we’ll jump into the discussion about our main topic for the meeting. We’ll end with more Q&A and a guided “transcription blitz” where we’ll show you how to pull data from herbarium specimen images on your own time, to make your own discoveries and help us bring these collections to light.
