Texas Botanicals in Warp and Weft

The Fort Worth Weavers Guild (FWWG)  invites you to attend an exhibition displaying beautiful woven art created by fiber artists from across the state of Texas. The exhibition is titled Texas Botanicals in Warp and Weft and presents a unique opportunity to see native Texas botanicals as the source of inspiration for handwoven pieces. What is “Warp and Weft?” Warp and weft are the two basic components used in weaving to turn thread or yarn into fabric – warp threads stretch lengthwise in front of the weaver, who then inserts the weft threads perpendicular to the warp to create patterns.

The FWWG exhibition opens Friday, September 9th, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm with a reception to celebrate the pieces selected for the exhibit and with many of the featured artists present. The reception will also announce top awards of “Best Meets Theme” and “Juror’s Choice;” awards that include beautiful handwoven ribbons. It will remain open to the public during BRIT open hours of Monday – Friday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm from September 9 to December 27, 2022. We would love for everyone to see the intricate woven art and take the opportunity to vote for your favorite piece – it may just win an award!

Reception: Friday, September 9th, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Koehn, Molly. Ode to Resilience. Handwoven natural linen and hand-dyed hemp, Astroturf, pine.
