Bienvenidos! Your family is invited to join us for one or more of the following educational programs on Saturday, October 1. This Family Day is free with general Garden Admission.

Join the Education Department for fun make-and-take activities and an exploration station about marigolds and indigenous foods. We will be in the Fuller Garden, near Patrick Dougherty’s Stickwork exhibit from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Nearby, Carlos the Cactus and his friends will be reading Senorita Mariposa for storytime 3 times.

Flower Crown Making will be held in the Fuller Garden at 1:30 p.m. “Learn how to make traditional, lovely flower headbands that you can take home! Step-by-step instructions, all supplies included, all ages and abilities welcomed. Included with general admission, but registration is required. Register here

Piñata demonstration will be held in the Fuller Garden from 2 p.m.- 3 p.m. by our very own Eren Moore. She will walk you through, step by step on how to make a pinata, the history of the pinata, and why they are still popular in the Hispanic community. This demonstration is included with the cost of Garden Admission. FWBG|BRIT Members receive free admission. Space is limited!

Painting your clay Alebrije, Calaveras, and Mythical Creatures with one of our most talented gardeners, Fernando Figueroa. Fernando will tell you the history behind these colorful and creative creatures and you will take one home to paint. This demonstration is included with the cost of Garden Admission. FWBG|BRIT Members receive free admission. Space is limited!
