Bubbling Cauldrons Soiree

Registration for this class is now closed. We hope to see you for another Botany & Nature class soon!

Dress to impress – but not to kill – and join us at the Garden for an unforgettable Halloween event discovering the world of poisonous plants! BRIT botanist and messenger of death, Barney Lipscomb, will deliver a dramatic and engaging presentation on the cultural, historical, and mythological aspects of poisonous plants past and present. You’ll also get to explore curated poison paraphernalia including a mid-19th century English Apothecary Chest, a “poison cabinet” (a 16th-century book turned into a secret hideaway for poisonous plants), related collections from our herbarium and library, and the ongoing exhibition, Perilous Poisonous Plants. Enjoy killer drinks and food to die for amid the thematic decor. Peek inside the cauldron for an evening of fun and learning about the dangerous beauty of plants. Registration includes Garden admission for the day—we encourage you to explore the Garden before the event!
