Digitizing the Collections of the Texas-Oklahoma Regional Consortium of Herbaria (TORCH): An Overview
“Digitizing the Collections of the Texas-Oklahoma Regional Consortium of Herbaria (TORCH): An Overview”
A (Virtual) Lunchtime Lecture by Diego Barroso (FWBG|BRIT)
In June, we welcome Diego Barroso, who will provide an overview of the large-scale digitization project, “American Crossroads: Digitizing the Vascular Flora of the South Central United States,” which he manages. This collaborative project, which has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF; Award #1902078) to digitize almost two million specimens over the course of four years, is co-led by FWBG|BRIT and four other institutions across Texas and Oklahoma. In total, it involves over 46 different partners, most of which belong to the Texas-Oklahoma Regional Consortium of Herbaria (TORCH). With the project now in its third year, Mr. Barroso will speak about the project challenges and successes, as well as the innovative plans in store for the remainder of the project. This 1-hr seminar will include a short Q&A session after the lecture.
This virtual seminar will be broadcast using the Zoom platform. Click here to connect to the event. The host will admit you once the event begins. Guests will be muted upon entry to the session. This event has ended. A recording of the presentation can be watched here: https://youtu.be/8Y9iBQ5FCsM.
Lecture includes a chat-based Q&A with the speaker. A recording of the lecture will be posted online after the event pending permission from the presenter. Check out past lectures here.
