Education

Explore, Discover, Engage

We know that education is lifelong, and we are dedicated to inspiring nature-lovers of all ages to explore the world around them, discover new interests, and engage their communities in positive change. Education at the Garden features programs for adults, children and families, and schools. We strive to introduce community members to the wonders of plants and ecology, the importance of conservation and sustainability, and social-emotional learning.

The Education Department is always looking for contract facilitators to support field trips and other educational programs at the Garden under the guidance and training of the Education Department staff. Click here to apply today!

We explore the critically important world of plants, collaborate to discover the role they play in our cultural and natural environments and engage others to conserve nature and improve the human experience.

Our adult programs aim to build an inclusive community by bringing people closer to nature through science, creativity, and wellness approaches. Explore workshops, classes, and talks related to Botanical Creative Arts, Food and Wellness, Botany and Nature, or Horticulture and Gardening.

Children and families are invited to enjoy hands-on experiences with nature while cultivating their connections with each other and the natural world. Join us for a wide variety of early childhood programs, workshops, scout programs, homeschool events, and day camps.

Student programs at the Garden and beyond reflect the importance of informal education in augmenting formal education programs for young people. Self-Guided field trips offer classes discounted access to our outdoor classrooms, while facilitated field trips offer fun, standards-aligned activities with a focus on environmental STEM exploration. Off-campus, the Bella Outreach seasonal program introduces early learners to scientific thinking.

For teachers, we provide several programs for TEA-approved Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit. Whether you are looking for a single session of focused learning or a series to support your continued growth and Professional Learning Network, you can find it with the Garden. Local schools can also arrange high-quality, custom Professional Development programming for their teachers to participate in together.
