Patrick Newman

Patrick Newman is the President and CEO of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, bringing with him over two decades of experience in public gardens. Since joining the organization in May 2021, Patrick has skillfully guided the Fort Worth Botanic Garden | Botanical Research Institute of Texas merger through the completion of a multi-year Strategic Plan and a comprehensive 20-year Master Plan. In 2023, he launched fundraising efforts for the first phase of this ambitious plan: the Baker Martin Family Garden.

Before his current role, Patrick served as the Executive Director of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, where he led for five years. His career also includes a tenure as Director of Programs at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City, Utah. Earlier, Patrick was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Azerbaijan, where he taught English and Science.

Active in the broader public gardens community, Patrick is involved with the American Public Gardens Association and currently serves as Chairperson of the Directors of Large Gardens.

Patrick holds a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Utah. An avid runner, he has completed 57 marathons across 41 states. In his free time, Patrick enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their dogs, Charlie and Milo.
