Learning and Engagement Internship: Homeschool Programs

This internship within the FWBG Learning and Engagement department offers hands-on experience supporting a variety of Homeschool programs at the Garden, including Homeschool Days, Homeschool STEM Studios, and the Homeschool Science Fair.

Conservation Seed Bank Laboratory Internship at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas

The BRIT Conservation Seed Bank laboratory and field technician internship aims to provide a qualified applicant with holistic, hands-on experience working in rare Texas native plant conservation, processing, curation, and research. The selected applicant(s) can expect to receive training in the laboratory techniques and best practices required for conservation seed banking, processing, curation, research, and evaluation.

Duration: 10 weeks; May-July (subject to applicant availability).

Hours per week: Average 20 hours per week for a maximum total of 200 hours.

Schedule: The ideal candidate is available to work on-site during regular business hours 3-4 days a week for a minimum of 5 hours per day.

Location: The Botanical Research Institute of Texas at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Stipend: $3000 total

Education S.E.E.D Camp Intern

The FWBG Education department seeks interested student interns—including those majoring in Education, Child Development, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Biology, Agriculture, or a similar field of study.

This internship will emphasize the implementation of educational programing for the FWBG summer camp program, S.E.E.D. Camp. The intern will work alongside the camp director and lead teachers to assist with camp procedures and activities for children in grades PreK-8th Grade. Interns will prepare a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the program.

Duration: May 27 to July 17, 2026 (excluding the week of July 4th)

Hours per week: 18-35

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Location: The Botanical Research Institute of Texas at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Stipend: $3000 total

Botanical Library Internship at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas

The internship will focus on the archival collection of American botanist, Sherwin Carlquist, working with his collection of photographs, field notebooks and negative film.

Duration: May – August 2026

Hours per week: 200 hours total

Schedule: Consistent schedule between Mon – Fri, 9 am to 6 pm

Location: Onsite and remote depending on tasks

Stipend: $3000 total

Living Collections Begonia Species Bank (BSB) Scientific Photography

Step behind the scenes of one of the world’s most significant Begonia collections with a summer internship at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. This unique opportunity invites photography-, horticulture-, and science-minded students to help document the internationally recognized Begonia Species Bank through high-quality scientific imaging. You’ll work directly with expert horticulturists and the Begonia Collection Curator to photograph rare and conservation-important species, refine photographic protocols, explore equipment and technique innovations, and contribute to a growing visual database that supports global research and public accessibility.
