Featured Favorites

From native milkweeds to spring bulbs, these made the cut because they’re looking fantastic now, teach something about seasonal planting, and pair well in North Texas beds and containers.

Milkweed (Asclepias spp.) — Native

Essential host and nectar plants for monarchs; sun-loving and drought-tough once established.

Aster (Aster novi-belgii)

Late-season color and excellent pollinator appeal just as other plants fade.

Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris)

Airy pink plumes in autumn; a low-maintenance accent for full sun.

Grape Hyacinth (Muscari armeniacum ‘Valerie Finnis’) — Bulb

Reliable spring bulbs in a unique color; safe for children.

Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia leucantha)

Velvety purple spikes from late summer through frost; hummingbird favorite.

Lemon (Citrus × meyeri) — Improved Meyer Lemon

Fragrant spring blooms and richly flavored fruit on a compact, container-friendly tree. Performs well in full sun; move indoors or protect during hard freezes.

Mistflower (Ageratina havanensis)

Texas native with fall blooms that draw butterflies when nectar is scarce.
