With over a decade of experience in libraries, Ana Niño manages BRIT Library’s subcollections, including its main collection, rare book collection, archives, Burk Children’s Library, and the Arader Natural History Collection of Art. She has facilitated further accessibility of BRIT Library’s archival collections through the publication of finding aids on Texas Archival Resources Online, has spearheaded a cutting-edge National Science Foundation-funded grant project, “Advancing the Extended Specimen Network: Curating and Digitizing the Sherwin Carlquist Collection,” and collaborated with BRIT Research colleagues on the execution of artist Dornith Doherty’s internationally renowned exhibit Illuminations: Past, Present, and Future of Fern Research.
Ana attended Cornell University where she studied Science & Technology Studies, and she later earned her Master’s in Library & Information Science from the University of North Texas. She has garnered experience from a multitude of library settings, including the Durland Alternatives Library, Carrollton Public Library, Dallas Public Library, University of North Texas Special Collections, and The Dallas Morning News.
Ana is a member of the Southwest Society of Archivists, the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries, and the European Botanical and Horticultural Libraries.
