Patrick Newman is the President and CEO of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, bringing more than two decades of public garden experience to the role. Since joining the organization in May 2021, Patrick has guided the merger of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas through a period of tremendous growth. Under his leadership, the Garden achieved accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and completed the Baker Martin Family Garden, the first phase of its long-range vision, for which he launched fundraising in 2023.
Before his current role, Patrick served for five years as Executive Director of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin. His career also includes a tenure as Director of Programs at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City, Utah. Earlier, he was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Azerbaijan, where he taught English and science.
Patrick is active in the broader public gardens community through the American Public Gardens Association and is a past chair of its Directors of Large Gardens group. He holds a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Utah. An avid runner, he has completed 66 marathons across all 50 states. In his free time, Patrick enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their dogs, Charlie and Milo.
