This category represents all volunteer activities that involve educating children, adults, and educators on the wonderful world of plants. It also includes helping our education team prepare for programs by assembling educational materials and setting up learning stations. These roles will require further training in Abuse Prevention Training.

Ongoing Opportunities

  • Do you enjoy storytelling? This is a wonderful activity for creative volunteers eager to introduce young children to conservation topics and the ethics of sustainability. This particular family program is modeled for children from 18 months to 5 years old. The program begins with story time with Bella or Carlos, followed by hands-on garden activities and nature play to foster environmental education for children and families.

    Schedule:

    • Bella’s Book and Nature Club: First Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Little Sprouts Book and Garden Club: Third Tuesday of the month, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • This is an excellent activity for those with an interest in engaging youth in the sciences. FST assistants help prepare educational materials, set up for classes, and even lead students of a wide variety of ages through meaningful curriculum. The FSTs are different based on the general age of the group.

    Schedule: Refer to Volunteer Calendar.
