Girls Nature Workshop: How to Catch a Bug
Together in partnership, the Fort Worth Garden Club (FWGC) and FWBG present the Girls Nature Workshops series! These hands-on programs connect girls and their families to the fascinating world of horticulture and floriculture. Each workshop highlights skills and activities designed to inspire the next generation of plant lovers and environmental stewards.
In this workshop, discover a world where plants become hunters! Participants ages 7–13 will learn about plant adaptations by exploring four of the five North American carnivorous plants found in Texas. They’ll discover how these unique plants attract, capture, and digest insects to obtain the nutrients they need. Each participant will create a bog planter featuring a pitcher plant to take home and observe in their own environment.
Although Girls Nature Workshops are not specifically designed to meet badge requirements, Girl Scouts are welcome to complete badge work through these programs. Please note: petals or badges are not available on-site; they can be purchased at the Girl Scout store or online.
Children must be accompanied by an adult
