Discover Forest Bathing: January

Forest Bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is the deliberate practice of immersion in nature using mindfulness and the senses. This practice originated in Japan and allows the body, mind and spirit to relax and rejuvenate surrounded by the healing powers of nature. This introductory class begins by discussing the guiding principles of shinrin-yoku that enable us to soak up the natural world around us; then each learner will enjoy individual time practicing their Forest Bathing in our tranquil Japanese Garden before reconvening to share experiences. Registration includes Garden admission for the day. We encourage you to explore the Garden after class!

Date: Saturday, January 17, 2026. Registration closes January 14.

Time: 9:00 – 10:30 AM

Price: $20/Adult or $15/Member Adult

Location: Check-in at entrance to Japanese Garden / Park in West Entrance Lot

Details: Bring a small seat cushion if desired. Class will be located outdoors.

Instructor: Randy Sabbagh is a Garden volunteer and a deep appreciator of the calming and healing effects of nature. He was introduced to shirin-yoku while living in Japan and is an enthusiastic practitioner who greatly enjoys introducing others to it.
