Your shingled roof likely absorbs the sun’s energy, heating your home and the atmosphere around your house. An alternative for the standard roof is a “cool” roof, designed to reflect more sunlight and absorb less of our Texas heat. Adding a cool roof can be as simple as applying a coat of light-colored reflective paint or as involved as replacing existing roofing materials with highly reflective shingles or tiles.
