Our Armchair Botany events are forums for presentation and discussion about botany, herbarium specimens, and collections – and an invitation to get involved!

Join us on Thursday, April 13th at noon as we kick-off the weekend-long worldwide digitization event, WeDigBio! Herbarium staff will present two ways community scientists can get involved and support research of plant diversity: voucher images through online platforms like iNaturalist, and voucher specimens through pressed plants deposited in herbaria with data shared online.

We’ll start off this forum by opening the floor for any comments and/or questions folks have about our current Crowdsourcing project. Then we’ll jump into the discussion about our main topic for the meeting. We’ll end with more Q&A and a guided “transcription blitz” where we’ll show you how to pull data from herbarium specimen images on your own time, to make your own discoveries and help us bring these collections to light.
