Forest Bathing: August

Registration for this class is now closed. We hope to see you next month!

Forest Bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is the deliberate practice of immersion in nature using mindfulness and the senses. This practice originated in Japan and allows the body, mind and spirit to relax and rejuvenate surrounded by the healing powers of nature. We begin the class by discussing the guiding principles of shinrin-yoku that enable us to soak up the natural world around us; then each learner will enjoy individual time practicing their Forest Bathing in our tranquil Japanese Garden before reconvening to share experiences. Registration includes Garden admission for the day—feel free to explore the Garden before and after class at your leisure.

Saturday, August 10, 2024 (9:00-10:30am)

Registration closes August 7.

$20/Adult or $15/Member Adult

Materials: Bring a small seat cushion if desired.

Location: Check-in at the entrance to the Japanese Garden / Park in Lot D

Instructor: Randy Sabbagh is a Garden volunteer and a deep appreciator of the calming and healing effects of nature. He was introduced to shirin-yoku while living in Japan and is an enthusiastic practitioner who greatly enjoys introducing others to it.

Inclement Weather: Registered guests will be notified via email the day before the class if it has been canceled. The option to transfer or refund registrations will be offered.

**An email with class details will be sent to all registered guests the day after the registration deadline. To be sure our emails always make it to your inbox, please add the FWBG.org domain to your email whitelist. (Click here for a quick how-to)
