Armchair Botany Forum – Decoding the Botanical Enigma: Empowering Plant Identification through Dichotomous Keys
This event has now passed. You can view a recording of this presentation on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_AlkZcyw9I
Our Armchair Botany events are forums for presentation and discussion about botany, herbarium specimens, and collections – and an invitation to get involved!
Join us Thursday July 13th at noon via zoom, for this month’s forum on dichotomous keys. These are the primary tools used to accurately identify plant species! Our BRIT Press has published several Texas floras with dichotomous keys that you can see here: https://shopbritpress.org/collections/texas
We’ll start off this forum by opening the floor for any comments and/or questions folks have about our current Crowdsourcing project. Then we’ll jump into the discussion about our main topic for the meeting. We’ll end with more Q&A and a guided “transcription blitz” where we’ll show you how to pull data from herbarium specimen images on your own time, to make your own discoveries and help us bring these collections to light. Please feel free to jump in, whether it’s your first or dozenth time! You can see more about the Armchair Botanist program here
