Butterflies in the Garden
|
| |
Over 12,000 live tropical butterflies from around the world will be released into the Fort Worth Botanic Garden's conservatory throughout the entire month of March. Butterflies from Ecuador, Costa Rica, Malaysia, the United States and, for the first time in north Texas, Africa, will be calling the conservatory home. Of the more than 100 different species, visitors can see the iridescent blue morpho from Costa Rica, or the equally striking black and white Paper Kite from Malaysia, or watch as the myriad longwing butterflies from Ecuador flit above the flowers while the lemon yellow Noble Swallowtail from Africa flies overhead. Visitors can also learn about the life cycle of butterflies and observe butterflies emerging from chrysalises. Butterflies in the Garden will also feature an interactive exhibit entitled Partners in Pollination that will be on display in the Garden Center’s hallway. This fascinating exhibit showcases the vital role different animals play in the pollination of many plants, including important food crops.
Advanced timed tickets available online at www.usherandmore.com. Ticket times are every half hour between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. No strollers allowed in the Butterfly exhibit.
DATES & TIME: February 27 – April 4, 2010, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily
ADMISSION: Adults 13-64 $10; seniors 65+ $8; children 3-12 $6.
School groups of 20 or more $5.00; children 2 and under free. Call (817) 871-7948 to schedule a school group.
